How has being in the Bridgeland High School Band changed you as a person?
Being in the Bridgeland Band has taught me the importance of hard work and discipline. Our hard work really pays off and it’s amazing to see and experience such a unique learning opportunity firsthand. Being able to experience wins and losses has taught me that hard work and discipline pays off. We are defined by how we work.
How has band helped prepare you for life after high school?
Band has taught me that if I want something I must work for it. It has also taught me the importance of relationships. I made many friends and they push me to be so much better. My work really pays off and it’s great to see firsthand.
How has band helped you build friendships or a sense of belonging?
Band has created a place where I feel like I belong. I can express myself without feeling like I’m judged. I hang out with my Band mates outside of just Band and creates so many memories I will always remember. It also makes me feel part of something bigger.
Why do you believe programs like this deserve financial support from the community and businesses?
I believe this band and programs like our band should be supported because it raises and empowers our youth and future generations. Funding these bands can create a better future not just for bands but for the whole nation. These students learn and have a sense of belonging which allows them to bring positivity everywhere they go.
Any final thoughts to share?
Band has taught me so much and I’m so grateful to be a part of it. The lessons I learned are so important to who I am today and I want to allow students like me to experience the same thing.
