How did being part of the Bridgeland Band impact your child’s personal growth?
Band provided significant opportunities for our son. He grew as a musician, a student, a teacher, and a leader. It stimulated within him a desire and passion for drumming that has continued beyond high school.
What would you say to a business considering supporting the band financially?
The Bridgeland Band family is a passionate and loyal group. The band is the largest group on the campus, representing approximately one in nine of every BHS student. Your support is greatly appreciated and will be honored.
What makes the Bridgeland Band program stand out compared to other activities?
It’s not often that you get to participate in an activity that enriches your life more than what you invest into it. Our son played snare on the drum line, and my wife and I served as chaperone chair and treasurer, respectively, so we all poured countless hours into the band. However, the more we invested, the more we got out of it. Whether it was the cherished friendships created, mesmerizing experiences watching our kids perform on the biggest stages, or the sobbing hugs in the parking lot after the show, what we received in return was priceless.
What made you most proud as a band parent?
I am a very competitive person, so it was always amazing to see the poise and determination in the band members, even when we didn’t “win.” They were always so supportive and encouraging to other groups. They always showed their love for the activity superseded competition, something that I took personally as a learning moment.
Anything else you would like to share about your experience?
These are precious years that will literally fly by. You will never regret the time spent going to games and contests and stadium rehearsals and showcases and booster club meetings. Make those cherished memories while you can.
