How has being part of the Bridgeland Band impacted your sons' personal growth?
Exponentially!! They have both grown and matured in just the first year from middle school to high school. They have found "their" people and made solid, healthy friendships. Reminders to get schoolwork done has become more of a sporadic reminder than regular argument. They have just learned to take accountability and responsibility for whatever tasks or assignments that needed to be done.
What changes have you seen in your child since joining the band?
1. Maturity growth
2. Confidence
3. Better friendships
4. Taking ownership of school functions, tasks & assignments
5. Excited to be involved in activities
What makes the Bridgeland Band program stand out compared to other activities?
I think the Bridgeland Band program does an amazing job of pushing the kids to strive for more, not because they want awards, but because they know the kids are capable. Year after year, show after show, the directors set a challenge. Then those young adults rise to the occasion and achieve incredible success. But the amazing part is they are having fun doing it and can't wait to do it again the following year.
What has made you most proud as a band parent?
Everything that I have already stated. I am a super proud parent of the choices my kids are making, the life path they are currently on and the type of human beings they are.
What would you say to a business considering supporting the band financially?
Look at the numbers. Being a relatively new school, Bridgeland has accomplished tremendous goals. See the competitions BHS has entered and where they placed in comparison to other schools that have been performing for many, many years. Look at the senior class. Of the top 10% of the 2026 graduating class, 70% are band students. That's HUGE!!
